The Cartesio Network is a group of Italian regions for the sustainable management of clusters, the homogeneous land areas and enterprise systems, promotes innovative projects to address the sustainability of policies and instruments in the field of business and their relationship with the land and the local authorities.

One of the themes that characterize the Action Plan of the Network is the Ecologically Equipped Productive Areas (EEPA); in this sense, the Network has developed the LIFE+ ETA BETA project, whose actions and results are presented in the guide "Eco-productive areas" by Roberto Cariani.

The ETA BETA project has done a systematization of the available tools and tried to exploit the material produced by the Cartesio Network, trying to translate it into concrete actions: homogenize regional policies; stimulate environmental, technological and system innovations; implement the European system of Environmental Technology Verification EU ETV; define a path that will allow agencies and private/public organizations to be effectively the Managing Body of EEPAs.

The publication, thanks to simple language and a content aimed at concreteness, is intended to provide ideas and inspiration to all those actors, public and private, that are planning or implementing interventions aimed at transforming or constitute an eco-productive area.
