Embraced Project – Final Report. November 2022

The Embraced project, funded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, involved 12 partners including companies from different sectors, NGOs and research institutes. The aim of the project is into close the cycle of waste generated by the consumption of absorbent sanitary napkins (AHP), reducing climate-changing gas emissions and contributing to the development of the circular economy in Europe.

The result of Embraced project provides an innovative integrated supply chain model for the recycling of this waste, which starts with separate waste collection in order to valorise the recyclable fractions of the materials contained in it. These are then transformed into building blocks (molecules or chemical compounds) and polymers for applications ranging from biomaterials to fertilisers.

Embraced final booklet contains a detailed account of the project and the results achieved, with an analysis of the contribution made by various partners.
